Warne ‘My Overall Emotion Is Pride’

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne didn’t think his team were at their ‘absolute best’ tonight as they beat neighbours Sheffield Wednesday three-nil at the New York Stadium.

Rating the performance as ‘OK’ he told Radio Sheffield, ‘There were pockets of play where we did well but there are things we need to improve on. But, my overall emotion is pride.’

Well, I thought we did exactly what we had to do. We got an early goal and we stopped the opposition scoring and, frankly, we made them look an average side.

Warney did say it was a ‘relief’ to get their first three points since the opening game saying, ‘I’m pleased. I think the harder you work the more luck you get and we got the penalty from Flo (Florian Jozefzoon) chasing a lost cause. I thought we had more cutting edge tonight and, say what you want about them, this team definitely work hard.

‘There were some really good performances tonight but I still think we can get better but we were really pleased with the team performance tonight.

‘Hopefully it’s made a lot of fans happy tonight.’

There were some good performances this evening. Jamie Lindsay, I thought, was phenomenal and Dan Barlaser had another solid game as, I think, did Joe Mattock. I also thought Mickel Miller and Wes Harding did well. In fact, all the players, including the subs, played their part this evening. What do you think?
