Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told the Official Site that he’s got ‘three really good number nines’ after two of them, Jamie Proctor and Michael Smith signed new deals yesterday.

Included in the three is Kyle Vassell who has currently joined up with the Northern Ireland squad and hoping to get his first international cap tonight.

And I can only agree with Warney because I think the Millers do have three good strikers and I think it’s been unfortunate this season that they’ve all been either sidelined with injuries or been playing through the pain barrier of an injury.

Proctor has been out with a groin strain while Vassell has had a knee injury and been sat in the stands while Smith, the only out-and-out senior striker left, hasn’t trained and been playing with groin problems.

We do have two other senior strikers on the books in David Ball and Jamie Yates but both are out on loan at the moment and, I’m guessing seeing as we’ve had this ‘injury crisis’ can’t be recalled.

Jim Oldfield commented on Vital Rotherham’s facebook page yesterday that he expects Proctor to surprise a lot of people when he’s fully fit and can’t wait to see him and Smith up front together. And I have to agree with him. I’d also like to see Proctor and Vassell playing together for a period of time. Actually, personally, I’d like to see all three up front and give some team a fright but I don’t think that’s ever going to happen – or is it?
