Warne ‘Just Felt Like One Of Those Days’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said he thought, considering the conditions, his team played OK away at Oxford yesterday.

Speaking after the goalless draw to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said that, obviously, he didn’t want to lose points yesterday but thought they had played as attacking as they could with the weather conditions.

‘ We are a team who likes to get crosses in the box but it was a bit windy today so one minute the cross would go flying out at the far stick and one minute the wind would stop it,’ Warne said. ‘We hit the woodwork twice so all in all I think we did enough to win the game but the score line says different.

‘It just felt like one of those days when we weren’t going to score.’

And if you aren’t going to score then the next best thing is to keep the other team from scoring which we did.

Asked about the penalties his team might have had (one on Mikel Miller in the first-half and another on Ben Wiles in the second-half), Warney said he thought both looked penalties to him but he wanted to see them back.

Talking about the one thousand and one fans who made the trip to Oxford, Warne said, ‘Thanks to the fans who came today it must have been freezing over there and they kindly stopped until the end to clap the team.

‘The wind was a spoiler today for both teams.’
