Warne ‘It Was A Mixed Performance’

|

Rotherham United are still top of League One after coming away with a point from the game against second placed Coventry City last night with Manager Paul Warne saying it was a ‘mixed’ performance.

Speaking after the one-all draw the Millers Boss told iFOLLOW that he thought the team were excellent in the first half saying, ‘I thought we frustrated them. But to concede the goal from a quick free-kick out wide was hugely disappointing. In the end I thought they thoroughly deserved the draw.’

I think a draw was a fair result. The Millers having the majority of the play in the first half and Coventry in the second half. City Manager Mark Robins changed his format for the second half and Rotherham didn’t seem to be able to cope with it as well.

Warney went on to say that he was still pleased with the lads overall saying, ‘I think it’s good that the lads are feeling disappointed that they haven’t won here tonight. We’ve come here trying to win but we’ve drawn and we are all gutted. If you’d have said at half-time that we would have drawn the game I’d have been surprised. I’m disappointed with the second half.’

I think our ‘key’ players looked jaded in the second half and didn’t perform as well as they have been doing. But, that all said, a point a way from home is not to be sniffed at.

Asked about Dan Barlaser who was stretchered off in the second half, the Gaffer said, ‘He’s done his ankle but he’s not in any pain and the physios are hopeful that it might not be too serious.’

Let’s hoping those physios are right because Dan has been one of our main players the latter part of this season and will be missed if he’s out too long.

A word for the travelling one thousand one hundred fans from Warney with him saying, ‘I thought our fans kept the lads going and we need that. If you travelled tonight thanks very much.’
