Warne Heading To League One

|

Rotherham United are looking to say ‘goodbye’ to Manager Paul Warne as the media plus social media announce he is taking over the reigns at Derby County with it looking more and more likely.

The story broke yesterday although there has been no ‘official’ announcement from either club.

From what we have been hearing it seems likely that County had come in before the season began and asked to talk to Warne, maybe even did so, but were turned down. If that’s something like the truth we perhaps should be asking ourselves what has changed in two months.

Warne has brought the Millers up, down, up, down and will be leaving them in a good position of eighth in the Championship.

Derby have had their problems in the last couple of years – a botched take-over, a transfer embargo, wages not paid, points deducted and at the end of last season relegation to League One with Wayne Rooney quitting in the summer. But they have rallied so far this season under interim Manager Liam Rosenior and at this time are in seventh place – maybe the owners, Clowes Developments, think they need someone else to give them that push and make them into a top League One side.

As I said, nothing official yet but Rosenior was ‘relieved of his duties’ yesterday and, as far as we can see, there has only been one name mentioned to take over.

No official announcement saying it’s a done deal but, probably more importantly, no announcement saying it’s not happening.
