Warne Happy After FA Cup Win

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne will see his team in the draw for the second round of the FA Cup on Monday after what he called ‘a professional performance’ against Bromley at the New York Stadium.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the three-nil win the Millers Boss said, ‘Bromley made it really difficult for us and, but for a save from Viktor (Johansson) they could have took the lead.

‘Fortunately we managed to get the first goal, which was a great goal from Wilesy (Ben Wiles) and our set-pieces were a threat one of which Freddie (Ladapo) got a goal from so we went in at half-time two-nil up, though that might have flattered us.

‘But in the second half after the sending-off the game was sort of over and it was a professional performance and we kept a clean sheet. We could have scored more but in fairness to them, on another day, they could have scored and the game could have taken a different turn.’

The red card was given after a particularly awful challenge on Chieo Ogbene who went off the pitch after treatment although Warney says there is no injury to him, saying, ‘we were worried at the time as we didn’t know if he’d broken his leg, fortunately he didn’t. Their player lost control and I don’t think there are any complaints about the red card.’

Hakeem Odoffin also had to go off with a concussion, Warne explaining, ‘he took two hits and the second time he didn’t know who we were playing It was a shame for Haks after waiting so long to play but we had to take him off. We put Wilesy on, though we didn’t really want to as he was suffering with a bad ankle but he was excellent when he went on.’

It also came out that Michael Smith was suffering with injury too, though what the injury actually is wasn’t mentioned.

Meanwhile, Bromley Boss Andy Woodman wasn’t impressed with the officials telling their Official Site (Click Here) that he didn’t think the referee and linesman’s decisions were ‘on point’. ‘The two quick goals killed us,’ Mr Woodman said. ‘I thought the first goal was offside and a foul and the corner (for the second goal) wasn’t a corner. But it happens. They (Rotherham) are a top team and we’ve come here and give an account of ourselves.’

However, he did agree that the red card for  Haji Mnoga  was the right decision saying, ‘I’m just relieved the boy got up because it was looking bad. There was no doubt it was a red.’
