Warne ‘Had Enough Chances To Win But Tranmere Deserved Point’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thought the Millers had a better second half than they did the first forty-five minutes today in their one-all home draw with Tranmere Rovers.

Speaking to the Official Site the Millers Boss said, ‘Our second half performance was a lot better and I thought we created enough chances to win the game.’

Maybe we did but again we didn’t take them.

He carried on, ‘I thought our back four were excellent today. They did everything they had to today apart from the last few seconds.’

But the game wasn’t over – they still have to defend whether it’s the fifth minute or the ninety-fifth minute – and this hasn’t just been going on this season it was most of last season too.

Asked about the equaliser the Gaffer thought, like most of the people in the ground, that the ball had gone out of play and there was a hint of offside about it.

‘Tranmere deserved a point,’ Warney admitted.

Yes, I think they did. They bullied us and I think were better in the air than us.

It’s probably a good job that we’ve got those away points to fall back on at the moment. But let’s not forget that this is only the first month of the season and the table isn’t a true picture with some teams having played Bury, some not, and the Millers having had another game postponed.

Onwards and Upwards. And it’s a South Yorkshire league derby next week to look forward too (or not as the case may be!!)

Not good enough and it’s starting to look like it’s going to be a very mid table season. Smith looks bemused and playing him in a 3 plays to all his weaknesses. We can’t get wide. We can’t get in th box and except for the introduction on the new lad we were totally ineffective.

Very frustrated and disappointed. So far under Paul Warne we have got worse both absolutely and relatively speaking. He does however consider himself a very decent bloke so no matter

It was a very frustrating 96 minutes JD. For me Smith has to go down the middle, he’s not a winger, he’s not that good a crosser of a ball, he looks lost.

What a load of shite! Enough chances to win, what planet is Warne, the only positive was the young lad signed from Brentford otherwise it was dire, two league home games gone and garbage performances but am sure that Warne will keep on trotting out the same bullshit excuses it’s what he’s good at

I agree Stuart, Ogbene (the lad from Brentford) looks like he’s going to be a good player – just a pity he had to come on when he did in a game like this one.

I haven’t commented for a few weeks because I felt my criticism of Warne might have been unfair or at least premature. It was neither. He is clueless. This squad should be beating Lincoln and Tranmere at NYS and I believe with a half decent manager we would have.

Kevin, I think constructive criticism of anyone/thing can’t be bad. I know we (perhaps that should be I) keep saying that Warne is still learning but yesterday it looked like he’ll have to go back to square one and start again. I just feel that in every game we start off well but don’t seem to be able to push on or change it when necessary. The bringing on of Mattock for Ladapo had me scratching my head.

No way did Rotherham do enough but three things about their goal the ball looked as if it had gone out the player looked offside and when I ball strikes a player on the arm then then they score a goal I thought it was disallowed whether it’s accidentally or not are there rules from the premiership down to the second division the same . Does the referee make the rules up as the game is going on because it baffles me
