Rotherham United have added another player to the squad by fetching in Jake Hastie on loan from Rangers.

Born in Law, South Lanarkshire, the Scottish winger spent his Youth career with Motherwell making his debut for the senior team against Celtic in October 2016. August 2017 saw him go out on a season long loan to Airdrieonians and spent from August to December 2018 on loan to Alloa.
Returning to Fir Park Jake scored in his first game in the Scottish FA Cup and went on to score another six times in fourteen appearances.

In May this year he signed a pre-contract with Rangers and while being nominated for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year he signed a four year deal at Ibrox in the summer. Jake played in the Europa League win over St Joseph’s in July and again in Rangers’ three-nil away win against East Fife in the Scottish League Cup.

Jake has caps for Scotland at U21 level.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Jake to the New York Stadium.

Caz, this looks to be a good signing and indeed the squad – with a couple of minor provisos – looks very good for League 1. My earlier criticisms of our lack of activity in the transfer market now look foolish. But will PW get the best out of them? Is he making it up as he goes along because at one time I thought he’d decided to play without wingers? And will his tactical awareness and game management prove up to the job? I don’t know: we seem to have had years now when we show for parts of games but we rarely see them out and I never know just which RUFC will turn up for the next game. The lack of consistency in both play and approach is so frustrating. Rant over!

Yes, I thought I’d seen where we weren’t having wingers too, Kevin, although we’ve had Julien Lamy since the summer who is a winger. I think he was probably hoping Smith would do well crossing from the wing but it hasn’t worked out. I’d like to see Smith down the middle against Donny on Saturday.
