Warne ‘Failed To Score When We Were On Top’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne hit the nail on the head for me when he told Freeview that we had seventeen shots on Saturday to Lincoln’s three but didn’t score when we were on top.

And, I think, that’s it. I said the same all last season – we need to take our chances. Seventeen chances at goal isn’t bad I don’t think but for only three of those shots to worry the goalkeeper and not one going in isn’t that good.

Last season Warney refused almost point blank to play more than one up front – I don’t think that worked particularly well as we were just hoofing the ball up in the air towards Michael Smith and hoping he could get on the end of it.

This season we have three up front but we are still hoofing the ball up in the air and hoping one of those three forwards will get on the end of it. Last season at least we had some wingers who could get the ball into the box – no wingers this season, although I understand the club are desperately trying to get one or two in.

Warney went on to say that the ‘game got away from us in the second half’. It was a bit like that at Wimbledon last weekend and again on Tuesday night against the young, though very capable, Manchester United lads – we seemed to play the second halves more cautious and seem to run out of ideas in the last the first forty-five.

But, luckily, we are only into the second league game of the season so things can – and hopefully will – change.

So Paul Warne realised that the millers failing to put the ⚽ ball in the net against Lincoln when on top cost us the game! What planet is he from, Saturday was bloody awful and he needs to get it sorted ASAP, CALAMITY WARNE IS BACK IN TOWN

What positions do you think we need to add too Stuart? Definitely defence I’m thinking and as I love wingers I’d like to see a couple of those added.
