Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said that his sides equalising goal just before half-time was crucial.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the Millers two-one home win over Oxford, the Rotherham Boss said, ‘I thought the first fifteen minutes were really edgy. We looked tense and tight and fortunately we got the goal just before half-time which gave the lads a real boost.

‘We looked back to our glowing best in the second half but it’s always edgy while it’s two-one. I was just pleased to finish the regular season with a win in front of our home fans.’

The Boss is right. I never feel comfortable at two-one and was really hoping, not just for the three points but for my heart, that we’d get a third goal. And it was good to finish, what we hope is our last home game of the season, with a win.

‘The lads showed good character today,’ the Boss went on to say, ‘

Talking about Chieo Ogbene who won the penalty for the Millers’ winning goal Warney said, ‘I thought Chieo was excellent today and there were parts of his game where he was unplayable. We had plenty of chances to get the third goal but it wasn’t to be.’

And there could have been a penalty in the first half after Richard Wood was hauled over in the area in the first half which Warney said he thinks was a penalty. I do too. ‘He does spin Woody round,’ the Manager said.

So, here we are. Two games, in second place and all to play for. The first game is away at Sunderland and, as Paul Warne says, ‘its a good job they aren’t in good form isn’t it’. They won five-one today. Then the last game is away at Gillingham. Do well at the Stadium of Light and we might not care what we do at Priestfield. The Gills, of course, will probably need a win to keep them in the league . . .

Don’t ya just love football!
