Warne ‘Emotion’ Gets In The Way At Home

Rotherham United got their third away victory in a row on Saturday when they beat Gillingham at Priestfield but it’s the home form that is causing problems.

But why is the home form so topsy-turvy?

After the three-nil win on Saturday Millers Boss Paul Warne told iFOLLOW, ‘I think that if we concede the lads are so keen to please that the emotion to try and get back in the game sometimes runs away with them.’

And yet, the last home league win was at the beginning of October against Coventry City while they won after that at home in the EFL Trophy against Doncaster Rovers – unfortunately there were two losses at the New York Stadium after that.

I think us Millers fans have made quite a thing, on social media, about our home form this season. I know clubs say players don’t read things on the internet but I’m sure things get filtered down to them somehow. While shouting ‘you’re rubbish’ from the terraces can’t help.

For what it’s worth my twopennyworth thinks that the players go into panic mode when they go one down at home and are that frightened to lose they can concentrate on nothing else and the weeks training goes out of the window.

Warney carried on, ‘My midfielders have only had around fifty English league appearances between them. They are a really young group and as the season goes on I hope they grow and develop. Gillingham is a hard place to come and for us to come here and be as ruthless as we were is really good. If we can back it up with the odd home win that would cheer a lot of people up back in Rotherham.’

And I’m sure Paul Warne’s lads will want to do that.

I know it’s easy for me to say ‘lets get behind the lads’ and I quite understand the frustration of the fans when things are going to plan and I do question myself when I sit grumbling instead of shouting out and wonder if that’s a good thing? I suppose at least if people are shouting out their feelings the players get to hear and know they need to pull their socks up. Football is a tough game and as much as we keep saying ‘we are a young team’ that team has to grow up and start to be counted.

If we are going to be up there at the end of the season we surely have to start winning our home battles.

The FA Cup has taken us away again next weekend with our next home game seeing Accrington Stanley at the New York Stadium. It would be great to hear a ‘Millmoor Roar’ from three sides of the stadium as the game kicks-off.

If we can back it up with the odd home win! What the hell is all that about Warne, absolutely bloody ridiculous statement from Warne who appears to be happy winning away but sod the home form but it’s ok if we can get the odd win on home soil, basically sod the 6000 season ticket holders at the NYS

They call it professionalism ! Players must be above social media, (as we all SHOULD!) , but the reality is that social media stalks everyone. Play the players in the right positions – coach a variety of “shapes” & tactics – drill the squad until it sinks in and bobs your uncle. It’s a privilege playing professional football – the players should enjoy every second of it – go on make a name for yourselves lads – Warne won’t stand in the way of greatness….earn that big transfer deal.
