Warne Disappointed With Tonight’s Game

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said his side ‘looked a bit flat’ after a disappointing display at the New York Stadium this evening against Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to iFOLLOW after the one-nil loss the Millers Boss reflected saying that perhaps he should have changed the team more than he did saying, ‘I believe we put the best players out but we didn’t look as sharp or as energetic as I’d have liked. That’s not on the lads, that’s my fault.’

Flat is one way to describe tonight’s performance. Nothing seemed to gel, our energy levels weren’t as they have been and, to be frank, we looked like a dull side who didn’t know how to get the ball into the right places at the right time.

‘In fairness,’ the Gaffer carried on, ‘we were playing a team who have only lost one in twelve who are full of confidence who were better than us tonight. But I thought we kept going to the very end and in another game we’d have probably got a draw.

‘It was disappointing that we didn’t get a goal because you can play under par and still get a point and tonight a point against Forest when you aren’t playing your best would have been a great point.’

Asked why Richard Wood wasn’t involved in the match squad – he was on the bench at Norwich on Saturday – Warney explained, ‘he slipped on the training ground yesterday, had a scan and has some damage in his groin. He will definitely miss the next game as well.’ We will also miss Michael Ihiekwe who picked up his tenth booking of the season tonight and is automatically out for two games.

I know I’m repetitive but I have little time for Warne. I can think of hardly a single occasion when he has changed things for the better. The guy is imo pathetic: “…in another game we’d have probably got a draw.” Really? What game would that be? Have we ever come back from conceding the first goal? Not often.

If the one that hit the bar had gone in, had Ladapo had more confidence then who knows Kevin – then again if we hadn’t had Viktor is goal it could have been a lot worse

just a view, because of how things are, warne is very good at getting rotherham promoted to the championship , he is equally gifted at getting rotherham demoted from the championship , being fully aware of the demands placed on the team because of extra games being played ,yet he still finds time to say he should have freshened up the team, he knew what to do but didnt , he then talks afterwards ,about it , its too late again ,history suggests keep warne for league 1 promotion , get a new manager for the championship ,

Have to say Jeff that yes he did know what he should have done but he didn’t do it. I imagine one of the replacements would have been Wood who was injured on the day. And I’m not sure how many players we actually had available to fill in because apart from two, maybe three, I think they all looked kerry packered.
