Warne Disappointed Millers Didn’t Score

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thought the Millers were excellent in the first half and again said how ‘proud’ he was of his team.

I’ve got to agree that we were good in the first half and, given how Brentford have been playing over the last few weeks, I thought we did very well to reign them in.

The Millers made just the one change for the game which was the enforced one with Richard Wood replacing suspended Michael Ihiekwe and the first two substitutions from Paul Warne was on the seventy-first minute when he brought off Joe Mattock and Matt Olosunde who had both been doubts for the start of the game. I’m just wondering if we might have started with two different players and let these two ‘rest more’ to get them fit for Saturday’s visit to Coventry?

‘We probably didn’t create enough good chances tonight,’ the Gaffer told Sky Sports after the two-nil loss, ‘and I’m disappointed we didn’t score but I don’t think my ‘keeper had loads to do tonight. Creating chances is the hardest thing to do and sometimes you just need that lucky bounce. Brentford’s first goal was excellent and they were deserved winners.

‘We go into the next game with a smile on our face and will go back to the drawing board tomorrow and work out another plan for Saturday.’
