Warne ‘Close To Faultless Display’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne couldn’t have been anything but pleased after the performance his team gave to win – and keep a clean sheet – away at MK Dons this afternoon.

Speaking after the three-nil win the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield that it was a good away performance against a really good team saying, ‘I thought we had flashes of absolute excellence. It was pretty damn close to a faultless display and there were some really good performances today. I want my team to be athletic, they’ve got to put crosses in the box, they’ve got to have goal threat, they’ve got to have discipline out of possession of the ball and I felt we had all of that.

‘But I felt very frustrated in the first half and I felt if we didn’t come away with the win I would feel disappointed.’

Obviously it wasn’t a faultless performance but we played really well today and it was a total team effort.

Warney mentioned Dan Barlaser who he said enables the team to switch the play quickly and said, ‘it was a good display from him but he was chaperoned by (Ben) Wiles and Ollie (Rathbone) who were outstanding. It was a good day at the office.’

Paul Warne got his first yellow card during the match today, which we all saw in the stands but weren’t too sure what he’d done so he explained, ‘I obviously lost complete control because I threw a bottle down near my own feet and he booked me Ed Note – yep, I am rolling my eyes at this. He (Christopher Sarginson) said to me afterwards something like I disappointed myself by getting booked and I said to him that he’d disappointed me not seeing a back-pass.  Ed Note – I was more than rolling my eyes when I saw this!  I am disappointed I got booked and my Mum will definitely text me with her disappointed face. I’ll get fined a tenner which will come straight out of my wages.’

And a word for the travelling one thousand two hundred the Boss said, ‘I’d like to thank the fans who came, they were really good and stayed behind the team.’
