Walker Wonder Strike Not Enough To Save Millers

After a good opening first ten minutes by the Millers, Accrington Stanley took a firm hold of the game to dominate the rest of the first half.

They took the lead in the 18th minute when Ryan set up Michael Symes to stroke home for his 16th goal of the season.

Stanley then squandered a host of chances with two goal-line clearances and Millers keeper Andy Warrington
being on top of his game.

Rotherham came out strongly at the start of the second half.
They equalised on 56 minutes when Middlesbrough loanee midfielder Josh Walker scored a superb equaliser,
running half the length of the pitch and firing into the top of the net from 25 yards.

Controversy followed as Adam Le Fondre’s shot struck the post and, with the linesman’s flag raised, McAllister tapped in. Referee and linesman consulted, but the goal was disallowed. Bouzanis then had to make a fine block to deny Kevin Ellison’s point-blank effort,Ian Sharps headed wide, while Le Fondre blazed over when clean through.


Stanley were fortunate to still be on level terms at that point but they regained the lead with 11 minutes remaining as left back Dean Winnard’s fine run into the box led to him teeing up Ryan, whose low shot found the net from 15 yards, leaving the Millers pointless from this encounter.
