Vital Rotherham’s Man of the Match for the month of April is actually two players. Both Joe Newell and Michael Ihiekwe got the vote for two of our games each, meaning it was a two-way draw.
But, when this happens we look at the player who got most votes over the month and that is Joe Newell!
Joe has played as both winger and midfielder since arriving at the New York Stadium in August 2015. This season he’s made forty-two appearances, four of which were in April, and scored seven goals.
Joe was voted Man of the Match in our games away at Charlton and at home to Fleetwood, where he scored the second goal in our three-two win.
Michael got the vote in our away game at Wigan and our game at the New York Stadium when Bristol Rovers were the visitors.
Our away game at Gillingham saw JON TAYLOR voted Man of the Match while the last game of the month away at Plymouth saw the vote go to RICHIE TOWELL.
