Trophy Stats – Millers v Vale

Rotherham United are through to the next round of the Papa John’s Trophy by beating Port Vale on penalties at the New York Stadium this evening.

But what do tonight’s stats tell us?

Although they might not say it, Vale put up a fight and I think both goalkeepers deserve praise for saves tonight.

The Millers had fifty-eight per cent of possession this evening though the duels were won by our visitors. Rotherham had six corners to Vale’s three and of our fourteen shots at goal in the ninety minutes four were on target and nine were inside the box. The Valiants had five shots on target from fifteen.

Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-two per cent while looking at the tackles Vale had twenty-one to the Millers’ fourteen and they conceded two more fouls than the hosts.

There were no cards in this game – and isn’t that good to hear.
