Those Stats – Millers v Shrimps

Rotherham United gained another three points towards hopeful promotion at home against a Morecambe side that Millers Manager Paul Warne admits made it ‘hard’.

But do the stats also think that?

The Millers just edged possession with fifty-two per cent while our duel success rate came out a little better too winning fifty-nine per cent of the ones in the air. Morecambe had double the corners the Millers did with eight.

Our passing accuracy in the opponents half was sixty-six per cent – I actually did think we passed more cleanly than on Friday night, although the conditions were definitely better for this game – while attack wise we had twenty shots at goal, four of those on target while sixteen of those were from inside the box. The Shrimps had seven on target from seventeen shots while their tackle success rate was seventy-five per cent.

Rotherham conceded ten fouls and Morecambe five more with both sides getting one yellow card.

For a neutral I thought it was a good game last night – if I was a Shrimp then I’d have been quite happy with the performance and wonder why my team is in the bottom four – as a Miller I’m now back on that ride of being top of the league, being two up at home and still not convinced of all three points until the final whistle.
