Rotherham United had seven shots at goal yesterday against Reading at the New York Stadium but, for the fourth game in a row, still couldn’t get one in the net, while just one of those seventeen were on target. Our visitors had four shots on target from eleven scoring once.
The possession stats come out at fifty/fifty with the Millers have more success in the aerial duels than the Royals as well as having two more corners than Reading with ten. Passing accuracy in our opponents half was fifty-six per cent (really?) and overall sixty-five per cent.
Defence wise our tackle success rate was eighty per cent while Reading’s was fifty-four per cent with the Millers giving away fifteen fouls to our visitors’ eight and the three yellow cards all went to Rotherham players.
I think once Clark Robertson went off and we had to make changes we hardly seemed to be able to put two passes together and when we did we lost the ball in what could have been ‘expensive’ places. Even the normally reliable Viktor in goal looked a little uneasy yesterday afternoon and it was a bit of a scruffy goal that Reading scored – though, by the end of the game I’d have taken a scruffy goal for a point. And we did put some good movement together our passing wasn’t the best (to put it mildly).
I have a feeling that unless you are a Miller or an Owl on Wednesday night you will be switching off that TV before the first half is over. I had my first glass of wine yesterday fifteen minutes into the second half I think I might have my first on Wednesday night before the game starts.
