Rotherham United suffered another home defeat yesterday when Charlton beat them one-nil.
But what do we think of the stats from the game?
Firstly they say that the Millers had sixty per cent of possession, my brow frowned when I first saw this but thinking about the time we spent sending the ball between three players at the back I suppose it could be right. Charlton won on duel success having fifty-two per cent over all and sixty-one per cent in the air.
There were twelve corners in the game of which nine were for the hosts and I don’t think there ‘keeper really had to work to save any of them. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-three per cent, which surprised me a little, and seventy per cent overall.
Attack wise our ten shots at goal saw just one on target while six of those shots came from outside the box. The Addicks had five shots on target from nine shots.
They say that we had fourteen tackles, Charlton one more with our success rate being seventy-one per cent, the visitors eighty. We conceded nine fouls, Charlton twelve while the only yellow card of the game went to the Addicks.
Our passing wasn’t the best again yesterday was it. And we often took three touches before sending the ball when one would have sufficed. Apart from that I don’t know where the answer lies to our downturn of fortune – others might. And I don’t know how to stop the rot – let’s hope the management team can do that. But I do know that one shot on target at home is not good, not good at all.
We have a chance to put things right on Tuesday when we go to Portsmouth – but that isn’t going to be an easy task.
Up The Millers.
