Those Stats – Millers Away At Wigan

Rotherham United lost their first away game of the season yesterday conceding a goal five minutes into time added on against Wigan Athletic.

The match stats from yesterday say that the hosts has sixty-one per cent possession which, I suppose, on reflection is probably right. The Millers won fifty-three per cent of the aerial duels and had six corners to the hosts four.

Our passing accuracy in our opponents half saw us get fifty-seven per cent while we had thirty-two crosses to Wigan’s twelve. Rotherham had eleven shots on target of which two were on target with our opposition also had two shots on target from nine shots at goal. Seven of the Millers’ shots were from outside the box.

While Rotherham conceded sixteen fouls, one more than the Latics, the hosts had four yellow cards to our one.

As Warney said in his post-match interview we really do need to score when we are on top, we have to make some of those shots count. When one of our players was ready to put a cross into the box, particularly in the second-half, there wasn’t a Rotherham player in the box to collect it, which was probably the most disappointing thing for me.

And is it only me who thinks our ‘grey’ away kit looks like it was ‘washed out’. It most certainly didn’t look grey to me.
