Those Stats – Millers Away At Shrewsbury

Rotherham United kept another clean sheet on Tuesday night, this time in a goalless draw away against Shrewsbury Town.

But what do those stats tell us?

Well, I can tell you one thing, those of you (which includes me) might be a bit surprised after our unconvincing second half display!

Overall the Millers had more possession – fifty-eight per cent – which actually surprises me a little. We also won sixty-three of the aerial duels and actually had seven corners which was one more than the hosts. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-six per cent and sixty-four per cent overall.

Attack wise both teams had fourteen shots at goal while the Millers had two shots on target while Shrewsbury had five. Three of our shots came from outside the box. Our tackle success rate was fifty-six per cent while Town’s came out as seventy-one per cent. Our hosts conceded thirteen fouls to the Millers six and it was a home player who got the only yellow of the game.

And can I just mention referee Carl Brook who I think allowed the game to flow as much as he could and wasn’t blowing the whistle every time a player fell over – well done sir.
