Those Stats – Millers At Home To U’s

Rotherham United were back in league action yesterday after an FA Cup game and the International break and got all three points against Cambridge.

But what do the stats from the game at the New York Stadium look like?

Well, the Millers had fifty-five per cent of the possession although our visitors Cambridge United had the better of the duels success with fifty-four per cent. Rotherham had seven corners to the U’s two and our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-nine per cent to Cambridge’s fifty-nine per cent.

The Millers had twenty-two shots on goal, thirteen of those inside the box and eleven on target while Cambridge had three on target from ten shots.

Defence wise our tackling success rate was eighty-seven per cent to the U’s seventy-seven per cent while we gave away nine fouls with the visitors giving away one less. There were two yellow cards in the game both to Rotherham players. Of which, I personally, thought one was a definite yellow while the other was a little petty.

I actually don’t think we were quite on our game yesterday – missing Smith, probably as we didn’t have ‘a big bloke’ to get the ball to in the box. But, on the other hand, Cambridge’s ‘keeper made some pretty good saves in the first half to keep us out. I think we had to grind out this result but grind it out we did. And, after all, isn’t that the sign of a good team?
