There’s Always A Silver Lining

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne has told The Yorkshire Post that he thinks postponing the rest of the months game is the right thing to do.

The Millers, who are currently in second place in League One, have three games postponed, two at home and one away because of the coronavirus threat.

The Gaffer said he prefers postponement so that the last few weeks of the season will see Rotherham having games Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday saying that this is just ‘my preference’ instead of playing behind closed doors.

After watching a live game this week on TV where there were just a handful of people in the crowd I can certainly understand what Warney is saying. I likened the game to watching a training match in another article and that is just what it was like. Others have said it was like watching the Millers when we played at Don Valley but at least we had one side of that with watching fans.

And, there is always a silver lining. We have a couple of injured players in Michael Ihiekwe and Joe Mattock who could well benefit from having this three weeks off and perhaps, especially in Mattock’s case, get himself to the top of his fitness again before having to play a competitive game.

The only real problem I see from this is that I’ll be sat twiddling my thumbs every Saturday afternoon for the next few weeks – I know it’s bad when I’m thinking about cleaning windows! Though I could always go to Meadowhall because there won’t be many people there will there . . .

So, what will you be doing this afternoon?
