The Stats – Millers v Rovers

Rotherham United won last night’s South Yorkshire derby at the Keepmoat Stadium by five goals to nil so, really, you’d expect the stats to be all in the Millers favour.

And, they are.

The Millers had fifty-nine per cent possession, were successful in sixty per cent of the duels winning fifty-seven per cent of the aerial duels. There were ten corners in the game of which Rotherham won seven and our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-one per cent to Doncaster Rovers thirty-four – although the crossing accuracy in the game was about the same, twenty-three per cent to the visitors and one less per cent for Rovers.

Attacking wise Rotherham had fifteen attempts at goal, eleven of those from inside the box, of which seven were on target (though I’m sure we said ‘ohhh’ more times than twice) and the hosts had one shot on target from three attempts.

There were nineteen fouls in the game, eleven of which were from the Millers with referee Scott Oldham only putting his hand in his pocket once which was for a home player.

All in all, a good night at the office you would say, but now we’ve got to put it in the back of our minds and concentrate on our home game at the weekend when Accrington Stanley are in town.
