The Stats – Millers v Preston

Rotherham United didn’t quite get to grips with the game last night losing two-one to Preston North End at the New York Stadium.

But what do the stats tell us?

The Millers have forty-five per cent of possession and were successful in forty per cent of their aerial duels. Of the eight corners the hosts got three.

Both sides had a fifty-six per cent passing accuracy in one another’s half while Rotherham’s crossing accuracy came out at twenty-two per cent to Preston’s ten. (Bit of a surprise to me that one).

Attack wise Rotherham had six shots on goal, of which one was on target, and four of those shots were from inside the box. Preston had three shots on target from seven.

Our tackle success rate came out at fifty-five per cent with our opponents just a little lower. Preston conceded ten fouls, the Millers seven and both sides were given two yellow cards.

We didn’t appear to have any shape at any time of the game last night. Players didn’t seem to know where they should be and time and time again Preston had space to run at goal. Free kicks and corners weren’t executed except the once when it was a great ball in from Ferguson for Odoffin to head home – but we really needed to be doing that more.

The stats make poor reading, the game was poor so it’s one to put to bed and start again on Saturday. Although, I seem to have said something very similar after last weekend.
