Rotherham United started the final month of the year with a two-one win over Lincoln City at the New York Stadium – but what about those stats?
I find it somewhat surprising that the possession stats show Lincoln had sixty-two per cent possession to the Millers thirty-eight – personally, I’d have thought it was much closer than that – but, hey, what do I know?
The Millers had eight shots on goal last night of which five were on target while our visitors had five on target from fourteen shots. Dillon Phillips, in the Rotherham goal, made four saves while his counterpart, George Wickens made one less.
Our passing accuracy came out at sixty-two per cent, City’s seventy-six per cent while ariel duels were pretty even – the Imps winning fifty-one per cent which I was impressed with as when I saw the size of their team. Of the eight corners the Millers won three with Lincoln having twenty-seven touches in the box which was fourteen more than the hosts.
Our tackle win percentage came out at sixty-seven while we committed sixteen fouls to Lincoln’s nineteen. There were seven yellow cards in the game – three for Rotherham, four for Lincoln – although, to be fair, some of those it was hard to see why they’d been shown.
All in all it was a good three points for the Millers last night. At times it was stop-start (though I think that was more thanks to the officials). The players played as a team and Phillips brought off some good saves while Sean Raggett helped out on a couple of occasions. I thought Christ Tiehi looked back to his better self last night while it was obvious towards the end of the game that some of our players were still trying to get over the illness that’s been in the camp.
We really could do with keeping this up away at Blackpool on Saturday – fingers and toes are crossed.
