The Stats – Millers v Hoops

Rotherham United got a much needed three points at home against Queens Park Rangers yesterday, but what do those stats say?

Possession in the game was pretty even the Millers having forty-nine per cent while of the fifteen corners our visitors had eight of them.

The Millers had sixteen shots of which nine were on target and six blocked while Rangers had three on target from fourteen shots. It was about even in the passing stakes while Rotherham gave away nine free-kicks, our opponents eleven.

Passing wise, again it was about even while the Millers were better in the air coming out with fifty-five per cent of the challenges – quite surprising seeing as we were all saying that QPR looked a ‘big side’.

There were no red cards in the game but we got two yellow cards while Rangers got one more.

Another win under out belts, another push towards stopping in the Championship. And, we didn’t go into panic mode when Rangers made it two-one (having now seen it back I’d swear the Hoops player had already crossed the ball when Wes Harding tackled him but …). Chieo’s pass for the first goal was spot-on and again for the penalty – both taken well by Jordan Hugill while a good block near the half-way line from substitute Georgie Kelly to get the ball back then running into the box to receive it again before it eventually fell at the feet of Odoffin to slam in from just outside the box was brilliant.

Onto next weekend and an away trip to Birmingham.
