The Stats – Millers v Fleetwood Town

|

Rotherham United made their exit from the Carabao Cup in the second round this evening away at Fleetwood Town which saw a two-one score line.

But what about those stats?

The Millers had fifty-five per cent of the possession while having sixteen shots at goal of which five were on target. Fleetwood had four on target from fourteen.

Of the aerial duels the Millers won sixty-five per cent while the passing came out at seventy-seven per cent to Rotherham and just four per cent less to the hosts. The tackle percentage was also a win for Rotherham winning sixty per cent to Fleetwood’s fifty-six. Corners went four-three to the Millers.

There were twenty-two fouls committed, ten to Town and two more to Rotherham while of the six yellow cards, four went to Fleetwood.

Despite taking the lead the Millers were, in my humble opinion, overrun by Fleetwood in the first half – the hosts passed the ball better, kept the ball more and got forward quickly and easily and took a two-one lead into half-time. It was different in the second half. Rotherham had more urgency, got the ball forward quicker and got into the box more.

And now it’s the old adage of ‘time to concentrate on the league’.
