The Stats – Millers v Boro

|

Rotherham United got a two-nil win over Stevenage yesterday at the New York Stadium – but what do the stats say?

Firstly, and most importantly, we got three much needed points with the possession percentages being more or less equal – the Millers with fifty-one.

We had thirteen shots at goal, five of which were on target with four being blocked while the Boro had one on target from five shots. Our passing accuracy came out at sixty-one per cent, our opponents the same and of the eight corners, five went to the Millers.

The Millers had fifteen touches in the box, six more than the visitors and Cameron Dawson made just one save, Taye Ashby-Hammond two more. Rotherham won forty-eight duels in the air with Stevenage winning twenty-six.

Our visitors committed twenty-one fouls, Rotherham two less and each team were shown three yellow cards each.

Both goals were scored in the second-half and both, in their own way, interesting! Jordan Hugill’s goal was deflected and looped over the ‘keeper but it will surely give the striker confidence while Mallik Wilks shot should never have gone in! But how glad we are it did!

A break from the league now with the next game being in the FA Cup next weekend.
