The Stats – Millers v Blackpool

Rotherham United started the New Year with a two-one home victory over Blackpool with Millers Manager Paul Warne saying it was a ‘deserved win‘.

The stats tell us that Rotherham had most of the possession – fifty-six per cent to forty-four – and had a greater success in the duels with the stats saying we had fifty-one per cent success in the duels and fifty-eight per cent success in the aerial duels.

The Millers had ten corners to Blackpool’s four while out passing accuracy in Blackpool’s half comes out at fifty-three per cent. Rotherham’s shots at goal were twelve with five of those being on target while Blackpool had eight shots at goal of which half were on target.

Of the fouls Blackpool committed fifteen to Rotherham’s ten with three yellow cards going to the visitors to the one given to Matt Crooks of the Millers.

It was a hard fought three points for the Millers this afternoon – but I agree with the Gaffer, we did deserve it especially as we were also playing against someone with a whistle and another with a flag who’d been found in Christmas crackers as well as a good Blackpool side.
