Summer Recruitment Already In Warne’s Mind

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told Freeview that he is hoping to keep the nucleus of the team together once the summer break comes, but knows it might not be up to him.

The Millers Boss said that there might be some players who won’t want to stay, who will want to move on but he hopes to improve the squad.

Saying that the back room boys have tried to get new players in at every transfer window Warney said, ‘the last one was the most disappointing one we’ve had and we really need to get it right this summer.’

The only player the Millers brought in during the January Transfer Window was Matt Crooks from Northampton Town – so anyone in his calibre would be a great find I’m thinking.

Warney has given Head of Recruitment Rob Scott a list of players saying they were talking about a player yesterday who they ‘might be able to get over the line’ but again said he would only get players in who suit the Millers.

Having already made his intentions known regarding French winger Julien Lamy, the Gaffer also had a trialist playing in the reserves in mid-week who he is hopeful of bringing in although he has to speak to both the player and his agent.

It seems obvious that Warney is expecting players to leave – whether that being the players on loan or players who are on the fringe or even players who are regulars in the first team he obviously didn’t say. And, I think, should we go down then there are a lot of us Millers fans expecting our ‘better players’ to stay in the Championship with other clubs.
