Stats Time

Rotherham United entertained Wigan Athletic at the New York Stadium yesterday (well I say entertained – was it only me who came away feeling a little deflated?) in a game which ended one-all.

According to the stats the Millers had more of the possession, and we actually don’t say that too often, won more duels both on the ground and in the air. We also had twelve corners to Wigan’s two – I feel it’s just a pity we haven’t got a fox in the box to put some of those set-pieces away.

Our passing accuracy was sixty-three per cent and fifty-six per cent in our opponents half. But, although we had more crosses than Wigan their crossing accuracy was slightly better.

The Millers had seventeen shots at goal (six of those being outside the box) with five of those being on target while Wigan had three shots on target from eight shots.

I often take the stats with a pinch of salt but if we really are having that many shots towards goal it’s about time we were scoring more, don’t you think?
