Stats – Millers v Peterborough

Rotherham United came away with nothing from the Weston Homes Stadium yesterday losing two-one to Peterborough United.

If I’m being honest I can’t say either team deserved the win, yet I don’t think either deserved to lose. I thought the hosts had the better of the first half and the Millers the better of the second.

But what do those stats tell us?

Firstly they say that Rotherham had most of the possession – fifty-three per cent of it to be exact – and had eight corners to Peterborough’s six. And while the Millers won more of the aerial duels the hosts had fifty-three per cent of the duel success rate to Rotherham’s forty-seven per cent.

Peterborough had ten shots of which three were on target yesterday to the Millers’ six shot of which four were on target. Rotherham, we are told, conceded fifteen fouls to Posh’s seven – though I’m not surprised if we are counting players throwing themselves on the floor every time a Rotherham player went near them – with both sides having one player yellow carded.

Inconsistent Refereeing didn’t help the game as a whole – and, it has been said, that though Ivan Toney got ‘Boro’s Man of the Match in the ground, Mr Oldham came a close second.

As I said, I do think a draw would have been a fairer result and, who knows, if we’d have been awarded that time added on penalty for as obvious a handball as I’ve seen this season (though, I haven’t seen it back yet), we might have got that point.
