Stats – Millers v Birmingham

Rotherham United were dealt a late blow in this lunchtime’s kick-off when Birmingham City took all three points with the only goal of the game coming in the eighty-eighth minute – and, it might have been an own goal at that.

The Millers had had chances, especially in the second half, to score but just couldn’t get the ball in the net – which has been a bit of a problem this season – and when Harley Dean and Michael Ihiekwe went up for the same ball it ended in the back of the Rotherham net. Me, I’ve given it Dean but there was talk of the Millers central-defender getting the last touch.

Today’s stats tell us that Rotherham have fifty-two per cent of possession and won fifty-one per cent of the aerial duels. Both sides had five corners while our passing accuracy in our opponents half comes out at a forty-seven per cent success with Birmingham getting a couple of percentage more.

Attack wise we had seventeen shots at goal of which two were on target with the visitors also having two on target from fourteen shots. Three of our shots were from outside the box and fourteen from inside the box.

Tim Robinson blew for twenty fouls today – twelve being against the Millers and the two yellows of the afternoon went to Rotherham players.

Speaking to the Official Site the Gaffer thought we deserved a draw. He also says we could have had a winner at Huddersfield (where it was a goalless draw) and an equaliser at Millwall (one-nil to the hosts) – we could have but we didn’t did we. Why is it that we can’t hit the net? Are we trying to hard? Aren’t we practising goal scoring? Aren’t our strikers getting in the right positions? Are the balls in not good enough? I don’t know – what do you think?
