Stats – Millers Away At MK Dons

Rotherham United got another three points on the road yesterday afternoon when they came from two down to beat MK Dons three-two.

The stats tell us that the hosts had sixty-one per cent of possession at the Stadium MK with just thirty-nine per cent going to the Millers. Well, I knew that the Dons would have more possession but not sure it was that much. If you’d asked me after the first forty-five I’d have said easily that but on our second half, well, I’m not so sure.

We actually won sixty-two per cent of our aerial duels which I don’t think is too bad at all while the corners were seven to the Millers and six to MK Dons. The Dons passing accuracy was seventy-nine per cent while Rotherham’s was a bit less at seventy-one per cent and in our opponents half ours came out at sixty-one per cent and the Dons’ at sixty-seven per cent.

Rotherham had twenty-one shots on goal of which eight were on target while the hosts had fourteen shots at goal with six of those being on target. Our shots inside the box was thirteen and outside the box eight.

Both sides conceded seventeen tackles with the Millers getting three yellow cards, the Dons one and one red card.

Why did we go two down in the first place I ask myself?  Poor defending?  Probably more sloppy than poor.  For me it was poor tactics.  Players out of position – yes I know we’ve got injuries but we’d also got players on the bench who actually play in those positions.  To be fair we were all at sea in that first half.  BUT we changed it and came out like a different side for the final forty-five minutes.  There was more fight, more understanding on the pitch.  And that’s what sent us home happy yesterday.
