Stats Check – Millers v Robins

Rotherham United outplayed Bristol City at the New York Stadium with the two-nil score line flattering the visitors so it was a bit of a surprise when I saw that our opponents actually had fifty-two per cent of the possession – I just can’t see how that could have been.

Our duel success rate was better both on the ground and in the air and we had twice as many corners as the Robins – six to three. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-eight per cent, which was a little more than City’s. We had thirty crosses of which twenty-three per cent were classed as accurate.

The Millers had twenty-two shots at goal, eight on target (is that as many as we’ve had in all the rest of the games?!) with City have two on target from four shots. Our shots inside the box were counted as twelve and outside the box at ten.

Defensively we conceded thirteen fouls, City one more, and we had two players booked to the visitors’ one.

Of course what matters is that we got all three points, scored twice and kept a clean sheet.

Man of the Match – I don’t think there was anyone who couldn’t be given the accolade. For me it was between Matt Olosunde and Jamie Lindsay though I was also impressed with Kyle Vassell’s work rate – but I’d give all the players at least a nine out of ten if not more.
