Stats – Brentford 5 Rotherham 1

|

Obviously, nobody can say yesterday’s game was a close thing and in the first half the Millers looked a little like scared rabbits. The early goal didn’t help which was a tap in after a save from Marek Rodak. You’d like to think you’d learn from this but Brentford’s fourth goal was a carbon copy – you know lads, our ‘keeper needs some help in the area. We weren’t playing well so I’d have thought a sub or two at half-time might have been forthcoming but our first player off the bench, was just before the hour mark at three down, who was Kyle Vassell who probably was my man of the match. I’ve always said I’d like to see more of our Academy players getting a chance in a first team game so felt a little sorry for Ben Wiles to be making his debut away from home at four-nil down – let’s hope it doesn’t scar him for life! I felt yesterday our midfield was sadly lacking. But, as we’ve said before, it’s just the first game and there are forty-five more games to go. Yesterday we met a Brentford side on very good form and my report to the Millers is could and probably will, do better.
