Rotherham United sacked one manager and just hours later appointed another – ex Manager Steve Evans – today.

But how did he go on last time he was in charge?

Steve first came to the Millers in April 2012 taking over from Andy Scott his first game in charge was at the New York Stadium against Cheltenham Town the same day, Easter Monday, although he watched the game from the stands and caretaker manager Darren Patterson oversaw the game. A very late goal from Ryan Cresswell saw Rotherham win that day.

His first game in the dugout was away at Shrewsbury Town when Cresswell came up trumps again on just two minutes to give the Millers the lead. Unfortunately the Shrews went on to score three so it was the eighteenth loss of the season for Rotherham.

His first win in the dugout was the following Saturday at home to Morecambe. Lewis Grabban scored on twenty-one minutes to put the hosts in front but Morecambe equalised before half-time. Jason Taylor put the Millers back in front just after the break but Cresswell got sent-off giving a penalty away which the visitors duly put away. But, on the stroke of full-time, Grabban scored his second to give Rotherham a three-two win.

The last two games were both draws which saw the Millers end that League Two campaign in tenth place.

The following season the Millers were promoted to League One as runners up to Gillingham with their campaign ending with Rotherham in fourth place going into the play-offs beating Preston and getting a Wembley final against Leyton Orient which ended two-all the Millers getting promoted via a penalty shoot-out. The following season they stayed in the Championship by the skin of their teeth finishing five points above the relegation spots.

Steve left the Millers on 25th September 2015, after a two-nil win away at Birmingham, but in equal bottom place with Birmingham City. Just over three weeks later he was named the new Boss at Leeds United.

In his first time with the Millers he brought in ninety-two players either on mostly free-transfers or loans but there was some money spent on the likes of Danny Ward, Jordan Bowery, Nicky Adams, Richie Smallwood and Michael Tidser.

It will be very interesting to see his transfer targets for next season and who comes in, who goes out – in fact, it could be a very interesting season all together.

Up The Millers.
