Signings Sooner Rather Than Later?

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne is hoping to get a number of players in during the summer.

Mainly, we suspect, because there could be a number of players leaving.

Speaking to iFOLLOW the Millers Boss said he was hoping to tie up one of the loans ‘pretty quickly’.

At the moment the Millers have goalkeeper Marek Rodak on loan, who we know won’t be coming back next season, Zak Vyner on loan from Bristol City and Richie Towell whose parent club is Brighton and Hove Albion. So, presumably Warney means he will be signing one of those up and not he’ll be signing up a new loan player for next season who are we thinking it will be?

It will be between Brighton and Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City who gets relegated from the Premier League in two weeks time and should it be the the Seagulls then maybe they would want Towell’s Championship experience in their squad.

Bristol City still have a chance of getting into the Championship play-off places – if they win on Saturday and both Middlesbrough and Derby lose. Vyner had a bit of a torrid time when he first came to the Millers, but he’s stuck at it and, to me, since Christmas he’s so much improved.

Warney has also said he hopes to get another signing done quickly and he is meeting two players next week – but we all know that it’s not about the players it’s about their agents, the clubs they are now with before we start considering family ties. The Gaffer also said that loans for players from Premier League or the Championship might not happen until pre-season has begun.

The club also know the players they want to keep for next season but expects that some will move on. At Vital Rotherham we are expecting the likes of Will Vaulks and Semi Ajayi to be ‘asked the question’ by Championship sides and maybe Ryan Williams and Clark Robertson too. Whether they are and if they are whether they will leave remains to be seen.

As fans we could have to be prepared to meet a whole lot of new faces in August.

Warney also said, ‘If we get a reputation for bringing players through who go on to bigger and better things and we can raise revenue for this club and keep building it up then hopefully, next time we get into the Championship we will be healthier than we were this year.’

Well am not going to hold my breath! So calamity Warne wants to sign potential players early doors, i wouldn’t trust this clown signing is name right let alone new players, of course the we shall have a competitive budget will no doubt be rolled out yet again without actually signing a player who costs anything apart from a pukka pie and a bovril.

If that pukka pie and bovril brings the likes of Matt Crooks, Stuart, I wouldn’t be unhappy!

I dont think they will leave it late to sign players this time i would like to see all new signings in for pre season games what do you think caz I think we need about six

I don’t think you are far off there, catman – whether we get six is a different matter. Warney always says he wants players in for pre-season and, to be honest, that doesn’t always work out but like you, I’d like to think that will happen.

I think they should re sign ben pringle he has been given a free by preston what you think caz

Not sure about that to be honest, catman – I think he divided a lot of fans in his last season as a Miller. I’d like to see Sean Raggett back in a Rotherham shirt.
