Should We Take A Punt?

With it being the time of the football season that the words ‘new contracts’ are being bandied around Rotherham United’s on-loan attacking midfielder Lewis Wing could also have his mind on the same thing.

Joining the Millers from Middlesbrough at the end of the January transfer window the twenty-five year old has been mentioned as a player with an ‘uncertain future’ in the Football League World this week under Neil Warnock at the Riverside Stadium.

After playing for various local non-league sides Lewis signed for ‘Boro in 2017 going on to play around eighty games as well as having a loan spell with Yeovil. Before joining Rotherham on loan until the end of the season Lewis had made fifteen appearances for Middlesbrough, half from the bench, scoring twice away at Birmingham.

Covid and the weather mean that Rotherham have managed just ten games since Lewis came to the New York Stadium of which he has played in eight of which he has started seven and, to be fair, seems to have caught the eye of many a Millers fan watching on.

I’d like to think that we would be at least looking to put a plan in place to keep the County Durham midfielder at the New York Stadium and even now perhaps putting feelers out to his agent.

Although, of course, I suppose he, like others, will want to keep his options open until the Millers have secured their position in the Championship.

What about you, would you like to see Lewis Wing in a Millers’ shirt next season? Should we take a punt on him?
