Saturday’s Stats – Millers v Gills

Rotherham United got their fifth league victory of the season yesterday at Priestfield when they beat Gillingham three-nil.

And what is as good as getting the three points and the three away goals has to be the clean sheet.

The stats tell us that the home side had more of the possession in the game yesterday – I think that might have been a little different if we’d have looked at those same stats at half-time – with fifty-three per cent to the Millers forty-seven.

Both sides had ten shots at goal (a great improvement on last week for Rotherham at home) with the Millers having six on target to the Gills two while it was pretty even on shots in and outside the box – inside Rotherham had six shots to the hosts five and outside the box the Gills had five shots to the Millers’ four – though one of those has to be the ‘shot’ of the day!

Our passing in the opponents half came out at forty-three per cent and our crossing accuracy thirty per cent (though I think the wind had something to do with that). Defensively our success rate in tackles was seventy-four per cent with our clearances coming out at thirty-three with fouls conceded being quite a hefty seventeen to Gillingham’s six. The only booking on the pitch went to Jamie Lindsay.
