Rotherham Reserves 2 Hartlepool Reserves 3

Rotherham United lost a two goal lead yesterday afternoon to lose to Hartlepool at Roundwood.

It was a very young and inexperienced Millers team that took to the park this afternoon but the game was only twelve minutes old when they took the lead after a cross from Darnelle Bailey-King found Jerry Yates at the back post who slid the ball into the net. At the other end Rotherham ‘keeper Harry Fidler did well to get down to a Scott Howes shot before the Millers made it two after a good ball from Warren Mason found Yates who in turn found Kuda Muskwe who rounded ‘keeper Trevor Carson to double the Millers lead just before the half-hour mark. Minutes later ‘Pool got a free-kick which Brad Walker took from twenty-five yards out and saw it fly into the top corner of the net and five minutes before the end of the half the score was level after Scott Fenwick put the ball past Fidler into the back of the net.

The visitors had the better of the second half and Scott Fenwick should have done better but headed over before some good work from Kudus Oyenuga got the better of Harry Fidler but Bradley Peace-McDonald was there to clear. Kuda Muskwe had a chance for the Millers but his header went across goal to safety before Fenwick got the better of Fidler only to see Adam Saxton clear off the line while both Brad Walker and Ebby Nelson-Addy had shots saved by the Millers` young ‘keeper. But with the game coming to an end Oyenuda escaped his marker and his pin-point pass to Fenwick saw the striker make it three-two to the visitors.
