Rotherham United have recently played five games in thirteen days, which meant a chance for some of the younger players in the squad to get a run out. Forward, Jamie Yates, was one of those players and he spoke to MillersWorld earlier.

‘I was surprised when I got called up to play my first full game against Grimsby last Tuesday,’ the nineteen year old said, ‘It was in the JP Trophy and I was pleased that I did well. I think the crowd were pleased with me too. But it was a shame to go out on penalties because we wanted to go all the way and get to Wembley.

‘It was a great point at Brentford in the end on Friday. We did well to come back and the skipper got a great header for the goal. At the end of the day we did well to get a point.

‘Morecambe have just got promotion to the league and we should be looking to improve on our home form and get three points.

‘I’m looking to play as much as I can and so far I’ve been fairly pleased.’

Jamie was voted Rotherham Vitals Man of the Match in the JP Trophy against Grimsby last Tuesday.
