Rotherham United skipper Richard Wood popped up just before the end of the first half this afternoon to score his second goal of the season – which turned out to be the only goal of the game.

Speaking after the win away at Shrewsbury, the Millers defender told
Radio Sheffield, ‘It was a good team performance on a difficult pitch which was terrible to play on.

‘I’m delighted with the win and for keeping a clean sheet against the top of the league.

‘Our set pieces and long throws were causing havoc and the front two worked their socks off and caused them all sorts of problems. It was good to get the goal when we did and then I thought we saw the job out in the second half.

‘I’m happy with my goal. Mike (Michael Ihiekwe) headed it down and it was a poachers tap in. Happy days.

‘Semi (Ajayi) and Josh (Emmanuel) are two young lads whose confidence is growing and Marek (Rodak) pulled off a couple of great saves as well. And I’m very pleased with the clean sheet.

‘Our confidence is sky high at the moment and we just need to keep this momentum going. I can’t fault any of them even the ones who didn’t make the bench today. We are a good group. We are enjoying this run but we won’t get carried away.’
