Rotherham United’s club captain Lee Frecklington said Saturday was ‘another incredible game’.

Speaking after the Millers beat Leeds with a last minutes penalty the Millers midfielder told MillersPlayer, ‘We don’t do things the easy way.

‘Every week we show what character we’ve got and to do it against Derby then again today against Leeds with ten men is a great achievement.

‘When we went down to ten men I feared the worst. We couldn’t get anywhere near them, we were defending for our lives and the deflected goal killed us a little bit and we were trying to hang on for the point. But we did what we did best and kept going until the end and we got the penalty and won again.’

Asked about Matt Derbyshire’s sending off, Frecks replied, ‘I know Matt and he would never intentionally hurt anybody. He says it wasn’t deliberate and, from where I was standing, I didn’t think the Ref was going to send him off but when he saw the blood it looked a nasty cut which I think swayed him.

Greg Halford claimed the ball, took and scored the penalty. ‘I’d have happily taken the penalty but Greg said the Gaffer told him he was on penalty duty and you can’t argue with the Gaffer.

‘But Greg is a good player, you don’t have the career he’s had without being good and people are now seeing the potential that got him his move to the Premier League. I was pleased for him to get that goal and hopefully that will kick start his career again. It was difficult for Greg to mix when he was training away but since he’s come back we have a joke with him telling him he’s the Gaffer’s love child because he gets special treatment in training! But the atmosphere is brilliant here at the moment.’

Being a boyhood Leeds United fan Frecks said he was delighted to score against them, ‘I’ve been trying to do it for years and I was extra pleased with that goal today. It’s got to be up there with one of the best days we’ve had at this stadium. It’s amazing what the atmosphere is like at the New York Stadium and I really enjoy playing here.’
