Rotherham United have eight names in the frame to take over the Manager’s hot seat at the club and hope to have someone in place before the home game against Barnet next weekend.

Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas told David Beddows of The Advertiser that the club will be interviewing eight people next week, but wouldn’t reveal their names, but said that he is confident that ‘one of the eight could take us where we want to go.’

‘It’s a question of who comes over best,’ Mr Douglas said. ‘In terms of their CV’s they all have different strengths and different backgrounds. But, what they all have in common is a good track record and success at whatever they have been doing.

‘The Chairman says that we are looking for someone dynamic, passionate and enthusiastic and that doesn’t rule out anyone over the age of fifty.’

Mr Douglas also said that some of the people to be interviewed are currently employed and will be attending with the knowledge of their clubs.

While David Beddows says that the fans’ favourite for the job, Ronnie Moore, is understood to be one of the eight, he could not rule out Steve Cotterill, Paul Jewel and Chris Waddle. Although, it is thought that Chris Wilder is out of the frame.

Mr Douglas ended by saying, ‘We want to thank Steve Thornber and his assistants, Paul Warne and Alan Crawford for the job they have done. From the start, Steve said he didn’t want to be manager but he has thrown himself into the job and it is appreciated.’
