What did we learn from our last two games?

Rotherham United took on and beat Scunthorpe and Oxford in their last two games – proving we don’t only win at home, we win away as well – and the away win was something we didn’t see anything of last season.

We also know that not only our strikers score – midfielder Joe Newell and defender Semi Ajayi scored at Glanford Park while winger Anthony Forde and midfielder Richie Towell scored the first of three goals on Tuesday night.

As Manager Paul Warne has been saying for a while ‘our bench is strong’. We’ve players biting at the bit to get on the pitch which also leads to ‘our players are patient’ because more than once we’ve been told that each player is pleased for another when they get picked in front of them.

Sounds daft this but the players play as a team – we’ve not always had that at Rotherham.

Rotherham United fans are passionate – OK, last season they might have been few and far between and the ones who were there might have moaned but, to me, if you feel enough for your team to moan then you have to be passionate.

On Saturday, at Scunthorpe, over two thousand of us descended on Scunthorpe and everyone of us clapped, cheered, shouted and sang for around one hundred minutes (if you count the injury time in both halves). The team can’t ask for more than that.

Perhaps the most important thing we’ve learned so far this season is that the Millers know how to win!

Long may it continue.
