Rotherham United striker Alex Revell was making his first league start this season and topped it off with the only goal of the game this afternoon against highly rated Torquay United at the New York Stadium.

The twenty-nine year old has come off the subs bench four times this season although he did play the full ninety minutes in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy against York City earlier this month.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the game today, Assistant Manager Paul Raynor said, ‘To say Alex had been chomping at the bit is an understatement.

‘We know what Alex Revell can do but, to be fair, Daniel Nardiello has done OK and big K (Kayode Odejayi) though he missed a few chances I certainly wouldn`t want to be playing against him. He`s a big handful and pacey and creates openings for others. I was disappointed he didn`t get a goal today because he worked his socks off and his work ethic created a couple of openings for Alex.

‘But I`m delighted for Alex. He`s been knocking on the gaffer`s door and asking for a chance and we gave him that chance today. He took it and I`m delighted he`s got a goal.`

I’m really pleased for Alex Revell – the people I sit have all been urging him to score for ages now!
