Rotherham United Manager Neil Warnock told Jonathan Buchan of Radio Sheffield that they work very hard with the defenders.

‘We`ve got to do,` the Millers Boss explained, ‘because most teams we play against have got better players. And that`s not being disrespectful to our lads. Our lads are giving everything and I`m really proud of them.

‘Once we changed two or three things at half-time I thought we could dominate the second half and, up to a point, I thought we did. They had two or three breakaways but overall I was pleased with the second half.

‘There was a few problems in the first half but Mendes didn`t give us as many problems in the second.

‘Frecks gave us an hour and he might even bit fit for Tuesday. I was told he should have been out a couple of weeks but Frecks is Frecks and he wanted to play. But we`ve got to be careful and when he gets tired we have to pull him off. And I thought Joe Newell did alright when he came on.

‘It would be nice to secure safety on Tuesday night to get it out of the way but we can`t relax because I want us to finish as high as we can. But when you look where we were a few weeks ago the lads, and the rest of the staff, have put in a fantastic effort and we`re reaping the rewards.’

I think the players ‘owe’ the fans who went on a cold Tuesday night in December to the John Smith Stadium to see probably the worst football Rotherham United has produced for many a year. It was awful. So let’s turn it round and get the Gaffer his safety and keep the points rolling in.
